Hominid Diving began in 1999. Adam Bellistri started the club to allow Grossmont College and High School students to advance their diving skills year round. We began competeing in club meets in 2000. We quickly experienced greater success at the Junior College level by accumulating 3 state championships within the last several years. Our divers have continually dominated High School diving county wide. Hominid men have won the CIF Division 2 title for the last 4 years. Since 2003 our divers have participated in Regional, Zones and the Speedo National Championships. Each year our team grows and more kids advance.

Hominid Divers are working out in two groups.

Group 2 is for beginner and novice divers. These divers have just started the sport or are just beginning diving competition. They usually train with this group for over 1 year before increasing workout time and commitment. These divers take multiple vacations and are involved with other sports and activities.

Group 1 consists of divers that have been involved with the sport for over a year and are commited to getting very good at the sport.. These athletes usually train between 4-6 days per week. These divers have goals beyond High School success. They also make all workouts on time. Group 1 have narrowed down their outside activities and sports participation to focus on the sport of Diving. Many of the divers in this group have desires to compete in college and several have been awarded athletic scholarships.
